- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 4 ounces cream cheese, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, warm milk, sugar, softened butter, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add the all-purpose flour and salt gradually, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the blueberries and lemon zest carefully.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a loaf pan generously with butter or cooking spray.
- Pour half of the dough into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
- Scatter the pieces of cream cheese over the dough.
- Cover with the remaining dough and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
Notes
To enhance flavors, let the dough rise overnight in the fridge and bring it to room temperature before baking.
