- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta water.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Add the shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli, then combine with the cheese sauce.
- Toss to coat and serve warm.
Notes
- For a healthier option, use whole wheat pasta.
