  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cookie dough layer.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cookie dough over the caramel layer.
  9. If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These bars can be frozen for up to 2 months; just thaw before serving.
