- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 French bread loaf
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the filling simmers, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the bread from the center.
- Fill the bread with the sloppy joe mixture and top with shredded cheese if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, slice, and serve hot.
