Description

Indulge in flaky puff pastries filled with rich cream and topped with fresh mixed berries for a delightful dessert experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed (about 8 oz / 225g)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into 8 equal squares.
  3. Score a smaller square inside each one to create a frame.
  4. Prick the center of each square with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  5. Whisk the egg with water and brush this mixture on the edges of each square.
  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Cool on a wire rack for a few moments.
  8. Whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepan and cook until thick.
  9. Stir in vanilla extract and butter until melted.
  10. Press the center of each baked pastry and spoon the cream into each well.
  11. Top with mixed berries and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Pastries can be made ahead of time; store components separately until ready to assemble.
