Description

A warm and comforting casserole made with sweet potatoes, topped with crunchy walnuts and breadcrumbs, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into even chunks.
  3. Boil the sweet potato chunks in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
  5. Add the milk, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, mashing until smooth.
  6. Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Mix together the melted butter, walnuts, and breadcrumbs for the topping.
  8. Sprinkle the topping over the sweet potato mixture.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  10. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

You can prepare the sweet potato mixture up to a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
