- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, blend the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter in another bowl.
- Gradually integrate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured working surface and roll it out to approximately 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into squares or circles using a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop the beignets into the hot oil, frying them for about 2–3 minutes on each side.
- Once cooked, retrieve them with a slotted spoon and allow them to drain on paper towels.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
