Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, blend the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Combine the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter in another bowl.
  3. Gradually integrate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured working surface and roll it out to approximately 1/2-inch thickness.
  5. Cut the dough into squares or circles using a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Carefully drop the beignets into the hot oil, frying them for about 2–3 minutes on each side.
  8. Once cooked, retrieve them with a slotted spoon and allow them to drain on paper towels.
  9. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
