Description
Warm, fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with spiced apple butter, perfect for cozy gatherings or weekend brunches.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup apple butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup raisins or nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl until well combined.
- Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and egg in another bowl, whisking until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients gradually, stirring until a shaggy dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it feels elastic and smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) as the dough rises.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, then spread a layer of apple butter on top.
- Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon and brown sugar, and add optional raisins or nuts if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to create a log.
- Cut the log into sections about 1 to 1.5 inches wide, and place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between each.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Make-ahead: Assemble rolls and refrigerate overnight, then let rise at room temperature before baking. For an air fryer, bake at 300°F for a slightly shorter time.
