Description

Warm, fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with spiced apple butter, perfect for cozy gatherings or weekend brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup apple butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins or nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl until well combined.
  2. Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and egg in another bowl, whisking until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients gradually, stirring until a shaggy dough begins to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it feels elastic and smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) as the dough rises.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, then spread a layer of apple butter on top.
  8. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon and brown sugar, and add optional raisins or nuts if desired.
  9. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to create a log.
  10. Cut the log into sections about 1 to 1.5 inches wide, and place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between each.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  12. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Make-ahead: Assemble rolls and refrigerate overnight, then let rise at room temperature before baking. For an air fryer, bake at 300°F for a slightly shorter time.
