- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 cup grated carrots
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine warm milk with sugar in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until frothy.
- Whisk together flour and salt in a separate mixing bowl.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients, followed by melted butter and the egg. Stir until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for approximately 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Fold in grated carrots, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl; cover it and let it rise for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Spread cream cheese across the surface, followed by sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch pieces.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth for frosting.
- Drizzle frosting over the rolls after they cool slightly.
Notes
You can prepare the dough and roll it into logs the night before for an easier morning bake.
