Description
A comforting mix of tender steak, succulent shrimp, and creamy cheese, this skillet bowl is a delightful experience for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb steak (such as sirloin or ribeye)
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups cooked rice or quinoa (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the oil: In a large skillet, pour in the olive oil and place it over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Season the steak: Generously season the steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add it to the skillet and resist the urge to move it for about 4-5 minutes.
- Cook the steak: Flip the steak and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for desired doneness.
- Rest the steak: Remove from the skillet and allow to rest.
- Sauté the veggies and shrimp: In that same skillet, toss in the shrimp, bell pepper, and onion. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink.
- Slice and return the steak: Slice the rested steak into strips and return them to the skillet.
- Melt the cheese: Sprinkle cheese on top, cover, and let it melt for about 2 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy: Spoon it over rice or quinoa if desired.
Notes
Feel free to substitute steak with chicken or tofu, and experiment with different cheeses.
