Description

Deliciously rich and moist chocolate cupcakes topped with velvety chocolate frosting, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Pinch of salt (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tray with colorful liners.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix sugar and vegetable oil in a separate bowl until fully combined. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla, and mix until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently, stirring until just incorporated.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cupcakes completely on a cooling rack before frosting.
  8. Beat the softened butter for frosting until creamy. Gradually add cocoa powder and powdered sugar, mixing until well incorporated.
  9. Add milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the frosting and mix until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

Store decorated cupcakes in an airtight container for up to a week. Can freeze for up to three months.
