- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with a light layer of oil or butter to prevent sticking.
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until they reach an al dente texture. Drain and set aside, taking care not to let them stick together while cooling.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until both meats brown beautifully, about 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Pour in the marinara sauce and allow it to bubble gently for about 5 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the ricotta cheese, egg, chopped basil, salt, and pepper until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
- In the prepared baking dish, start with a generous spoonful of the meat sauce to coat the bottom. Layer four cooked noodles evenly on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, adding a sprinkle of both mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat this process, finishing with the last of the meat sauce and a generous topping of cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. After that time, remove the foil, allowing the cheese to bubble and turn a delectable golden brown for another 15 minutes.
- Once out of the oven, let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before slicing.

Make-ahead: Prepare the lasagna a day in advance for deeper flavors. For quick cooking, try using an air fryer in individual servings.
