- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glazing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
- Mix together brown sugar and ground cinnamon, and sprinkle this over the dough.
- Slice the dough into strips and twist them together, placing on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze, then drizzle over the warm twists.
Notes
For a creamier glaze, adjust the milk to desired consistency. You can also prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate overnight.
