  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir in the buttermilk and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  5. Mix together brown sugar and ground cinnamon, and sprinkle this over the dough.
  6. Slice the dough into strips and twist them together, placing on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze, then drizzle over the warm twists.

Notes

For a creamier glaze, adjust the milk to desired consistency. You can also prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate overnight.
