Description

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm water (100-110°F)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Coarse salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water with the yeast and a sprinkle of sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together the remaining sugar, milk, melted butter, salt, and eggs in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine the frothy yeast mixture with the other ingredients and gradually add 3 cups of flour to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding more flour if sticky.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a kitchen towel for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the dough into small rolls and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Second rise the rolls for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt before baking for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
