Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Gradually add the warm water while using a wooden spoon to mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently shape it into a ball; let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, transfer the dough into it, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden-brown.
  8. Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Customize your bread by adding herbs or seeds. Store sliced bread in an airtight container for up to a week.
