- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast (optional)
Instructions
- Blend the sourdough starter, warm water, and honey in a large mixing bowl until fully combined.
- Whisk together all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and salt in another bowl until well mixed.
- Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients gradually. Knead gently until a soft, cohesive dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it rest for about 240-360 minutes to rise and double in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Shape your risen dough into a loaf and place it into a greased loaf pan.
- Let the dough rise again for about 60-120 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Store in a paper bag at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in a toaster or a preheated oven.
