Description

Creamy and flavorful refried beans made easily in the Instant Pot, perfect for tacos, burritos, and more.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried pinto beans
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional toppings: cheese, cilantro, lime

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beans by rinsing and sorting them in a colander.
  2. Combine the cleaned beans into your Instant Pot with water, onion, garlic, and cumin.
  3. Seal the lid of the Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for 45 minutes.
  4. Release the pressure naturally for 15 minutes, then perform a quick release for any remaining pressure.
  5. Mash the beans to your preferred texture, adding salt to taste before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in airtight containers; they can last up to a week in the fridge or three months in the freezer.
