Description
A quick and easy recipe for sourdough bread that doesn’t require bulk fermentation. Perfect for novice bakers looking to create delicious homemade bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g Bread Flour
- 350g Water
- 100g Active Sourdough Starter
- 10g Salt
Instructions
- Combine the bread flour and water with your active sourdough starter in a large bowl.
- Mix until there’s no dry flour left; expect a shaggy, messy mixture.
- Let this mixture rest for 30 minutes to allow flour to absorb water.
- Add the salt to the dough and mix by squeezing until fully incorporated.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C), placing your Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently shape it into a round loaf.
- Let the shaped loaf rest while your oven continues to preheat.
- Remove the Dutch oven carefully, place the dough inside, cover it with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a more flavorful bread, let the dough rise slowly in the refrigerator overnight. If you don’t have a Dutch oven, use a baking stone with a pan of water.
