- 1 lb ground beef
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, stirring until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Incorporate the ground beef and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Grease your baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat the layers, ending with a top layer of potatoes.
- Pour the heavy cream over the top layer.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey for beef and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
