Description

A hearty, comforting dish combining tender ground beef and thinly sliced potatoes, baked with creamy sauce and gooey cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, stirring until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the ground beef and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Grease your baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  6. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Repeat the layers, ending with a top layer of potatoes.
  8. Pour the heavy cream over the top layer.
  9. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey for beef and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
