Description

Delicious mini donut bites with a crunchy exterior and soft interior, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk with the yeast and sugar. Allow it to rest and bubble for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Combine the mixture: Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the flour mixture, along with the melted butter. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Let it rise: Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours.
  6. Shape the donuts: Punch down the risen dough, pinching off small pieces and rolling them into bite-sized balls.
  7. Prepare to fry: Heat oil in a deep pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry to perfection: Place the dough balls into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  9. Add the finishing touch: While they’re still warm, roll them in sugar or a sugar-cinnamon mix.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the dough in advance and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before frying.
