Description

A delightful one-day sourdough bread that offers a crispy crust and soft, airy crumb, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 1/2 cups of warm water in a large mixing bowl. Stir until a shaggy dough forms. Let this mixture rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon of salt over the dough and mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and allow it to rise at room temperature for about 4 hours, folding the dough every hour.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  5. Place the shaped dough into a floured proofing basket and let it proof for another hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with an empty Dutch oven inside.
  7. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place your dough on a piece of parchment paper. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Use a damp cloth to maintain moisture during resting and rising times. Customize your loaf with herbs or cheese for additional flavor.
