Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup active sourdough starter
- 1 tablespoon salt
Instructions
- Combine the 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 1/2 cups of warm water in a large mixing bowl. Stir until a shaggy dough forms. Let this mixture rest for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon of salt over the dough and mix until fully incorporated.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and allow it to rise at room temperature for about 4 hours, folding the dough every hour.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
- Place the shaped dough into a floured proofing basket and let it proof for another hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with an empty Dutch oven inside.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place your dough on a piece of parchment paper. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Use a damp cloth to maintain moisture during resting and rising times. Customize your loaf with herbs or cheese for additional flavor.
