Description
A delicious and tender filet mignon seared to perfection and topped with a rich garlic butter sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 filet mignon steaks (6–8 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add the steaks to the skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
- In the last minute of cooking, add the butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet.
- Baste the steaks with the melted garlic butter for extra flavor.
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Letting the steak rest allows the juices to redistribute.
- Pair with your favorite side dishes for a complete meal.
