Description

Deliciously soft and chewy cookie bars topped with creamy frosting and festive sprinkles, perfect for summer celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup patriotic sprinkles (and extra for topping)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 3 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the patriotic sprinkles.
  8. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
  11. Beat together the frosting ingredients until smooth.
  12. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars and top with extra sprinkles.
  13. Slice into squares and serve.
