Ingredients

  • 2 cups active sourdough starter
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix together your active sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add in the flour until the mixture forms a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place your dough in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Bring water to a gentle boil in a large pot and stir in the baking soda.
  7. Divide the dough into 12-15 equal portions, rolling each into a rope and twisting into pretzel shapes.
  8. Boil each pretzel in the baking soda water for 30 seconds before transferring to your baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm, alongside your favorite dips.

Notes
