Description
Deliciously soft and sweet rolls made with sourdough and pineapple juice, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, pineapple juice, sugar, melted butter, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Add 3 cups of flour and the instant yeast gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms. If sticky, add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
- Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic, by hand or using a stand mixer.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
- Punch down the dough to release air bubbles and shape it into small rolls, about the size of a golf ball.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Make ahead by preparing the dough the night before and letting it rise in the fridge. These rolls can be frozen for up to 3 months.
