Description

Deliciously soft and sweet rolls made with sourdough and pineapple juice, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter, pineapple juice, sugar, melted butter, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  2. Add 3 cups of flour and the instant yeast gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms. If sticky, add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic, by hand or using a stand mixer.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  5. Punch down the dough to release air bubbles and shape it into small rolls, about the size of a golf ball.
  6. Arrange the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  9. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the dough the night before and letting it rise in the fridge. These rolls can be frozen for up to 3 months.
